The murders of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor and so many others have shined a light on many horrible facts including the incredible lack of mental and emotional health resources available to victims of brutality, abuse and systemic racism. The families and loved ones suffer from depression, PTSD, anxiety and panic. The system that has failed them before is failing them again. It’s up to the community to care for these victims. SNAPS has found some great organizations that we’d like to support. Please consider checking out their good work.
Safe Black Space https://www.safeblackspace.org
Safe Black Space is the umbrella under which various services are offered to address people of African ancestry’s individual and community reactions to cultural and racial trauma.
Justice Teams https://justiceteams.org
The Healing Justice program at Justice Teams and Dignity Now provides assistance to those affected by trauma as a result of state law enforcement.
Black Emotional and Mental Health Collective is a training, movement building and grant making organization dedicated to the healing, wellness and liberation of Black and marginalized communities.
Offers Black children in low-income families and unstable communities the social, emotional and academic supports they need to unleash their potential.
We’re developing a series of SNAPS that make direct, explicit statements about how we feel, movements that are changing our society, or that are celebrations of ourselves and our communities. 100% of all proceeds from these SNAPS will go to organizations working to improve mental and emotional health around the country.
